    Hi All,
My first post and I do have gone through the forum and did found some solution to fix the issue but none has worked.

    Car VT V6 184000km Petrol + LPG
Regularly serviced. Last service in June 2011

Issue started with Cold Starts, engine crackling but not starting, taking 2-4 attempts. Once started all good.
Took to the same mechanic who did the last service approx 2000km ago, he gave the following quote after $59 charge:
    1) Leads
    2)Plugs
    3) DFI Kit,
    4) CAS,
    5) Harmonic Balancer,
    6) Seal
    7) Labour
    8) Fuel + Aditive

Talked to the other mechanic he said turn on the ignition but do not crank it , wait 4-5 second then switch off and try to start if it works then its Fuel Pump related issue.

Tested = solution worked. so we got fuel pump unit replaced.

    All good for 2 days

Then all of sudden car has issue in cold and Hot starting again.

Took back to the 2nd mechanic he kept the car over night.
he got back with following report:
    1) Plugs ok
    2) plug leads ok
    3) Found no Spark from the Coils - suspect Faulty CAS

    Ok Changed to new CAS

Tested = problem is still there but Injectors have the Spark now.

Just to confirm tired another DFI module and injectors have spark but, car is not starting.

Sorry for the long writeup, but he is pretty much out of the options and is leaning towards the ECU replacement.

But he is also not sure if that is going to fix the issue or not.

    initial errors were: 13, 46, 57, 67, 81, 82, 83.

    After CAS replacement 13, 46, and 67 were gone but 67, 81, 82, 83 are still there.

Most of these are leaning towards Transmission related issue but car has no transmission problem, drives perfect.

I trust this mechanic as I take my other car to him for last 8 years and have recommended many friends to him and he is 99.9% spot on.

but in this case even he is out of idea's and not sure if replacing ECU will work or not and he has asked to get another opinion.

SO this is the only other place I can think off.

    Any ideas will be great.

This Issue has now been resolved.

The culprit was "Engine Start Relay" in the fuse box.

Once the relay was changed car started up fine and all error codes were cleared.

Lesson learned : Even old and tried methods some time fail too. Both Mechanics followed the right procedure and looked for error codes using computer or by jumping the 5/6 ports and end up getting same results. The dodgy relay was pointing to every other direction but to it self.

So yes if your car has starting issues HOT or COLD, instead for going down the track of changing Fuel pump or half the engine and spending $$$$$ please check the "Engine Start Relay" as that may be the only fault.

Thanks to everyone who has written down so many informative posts on the site.

    Regards,

    Asad.
