- VX Berlina SII V6 3.8L
G-day.
Well basically I am sick of the old Commodore diff and its single-pegger shenanigans.
So I am looking to upgrade to a LSD Diff, however I cannot afford an aftermarket unit and so was looking for a used stock one.
When browsing it seems that the most common ratios are 3.07, 3.08 and 3.46. also seen some 3.27's.
3.07 is by far the most common.
I'm not sure what mine is as standard and was hoping someone could tell me which one I need? Or which one is better while i'm already changing it?
I've read that a higher geared diff, ie. 3.4-3.7+ is better for acceleration but slower for top speed?
I'd rather some more punch off the line rather than top speed. I do more city driving than highway.
I have a VX Berlina '2000' SII. Auto at the moment but was looking into a manual swap later in the year.
I will have a friend of mine, a mechanic, changing it for me. I'm assuming it should be a straight change-over if its a 3-bolt one?
Regards, Gabriel.
