Hi All
Been reading the forums for a while now and found heaps of help from existing posts.

Unfortunalty i have an issue that i cant seam to pinpoint and was hoping the members out there may be able to assist

My wifes car (1997 VT Exec) is having a very odd issues. Over the last 2 weeks this has happened twice.
The car is driven frequently but the other day the car would not turn over.

Dash lights come on and all accessories work. The imoblizer light turns off but when you go from on to start there is nothing. No primer sounds not tick from the alternator nothing at all.

I thought the imoblizer has tripped so i did the 2hr reset trick but nothing.

First time we left it overnight in the shops carpark and next morning it started. Second time it sat in the driveway with us trying it twice a day finally this morning (2 days later) it kicked over as if nothing was wrong.

We have checked the battery and it is fine (it is only 6 months old), checked fuel levels. Both time it was on a flat surface. Had a major service 1.5 months ago so filters, sparkies and oil were changed.

This is driving me nuts, any assistance would be great. Starting to think it has an electrical issue

You could start with; the connections on the battery and the starter motor.
The "start" and "engine control" relays in the fuse/relay box under the bonnet.
These would be the easiest things to check before things get complicated.
You can swap the relays over with the high beam relay.

Also check the ignition switch.

Thanks for these ideas. Will check them asap and see if it helps

Sorry it has taken a while to get back to you all.

The issues stopped happening for almost a month. I decided just in case to test the above ideas. Then on Wednesday after stopping to put air in the tyres it would not kick over again :(

Had it towed to local Ultra Tunes that does all our servicing. Long story short they have now replaced the immobilizer and both keys. Car is now running fine.

Only thing still bugging me is it keep blowing tail lights (3 full sets of 4 in 12 months)
All other testing done showed not other electrical faults. They did the test when the issue was happening and when it was running again.
