Hello,

So this is the first holden ive owned had it for abit 4-5months hadnt had any problems with it so far til now.

The problem is i was driving home from work yesterday when the check engine light and airbag light came on, i watched the dash cluster and nothing else seemed to of happened after about 5minutes the warnings went away. I got home everything seemed ok, until i went to start it a few hours later.

This is what happens; If you put the key in turn it to acc and leave it for a few seconds then try start nothing happens not even a little crank. But it you put the key in and turn it real quick itll start for about 1second then die. All the dash lights work, but i do get 3 beeps 3 times (I researched to find it was the airbag light doing it i believe).

Ive spoken to a few friends and one suggests its the wiring that it could be corroded as hes apparently had the same issue in his vt. I just need to know if it is infact wiring as ill need to get the ute towed somewhere to get fixed and i dont want to tow it to a auto lecky for them to go cant fix it. and having to get it towed elsewhere.

Thanks in advance,

Matt.

V8, as in LS1, not holden?
I doubt anyway you will need a scan tool.

True, you need a scan tool or a cheap ebay cable and laptop, best way to find faults and lead you straight to a problem.

First things first, check your battery terminals, are they on tight are all the wires coming off them in good condition and not broken? Battery have water in it? Do you have power in your battery? Check with multimeter or headlights etc etc.

Heaps of random warning lights can often be cause by a bad alternator putting too much charge into the system. Or abs module. This overcharging could also have pushed your battery over the edge and killed it too. Does it start at all now? If so check volts when running, should be about 14V. Can you jump start it? As you can probably tell I'm leaning towards a combination of battery/alternator problem here.

This is good info on checking codes, I use this method:

Battery is fine, alternator is fine. Battery reads 12volts and when i start the car real quick (Dies within 1 second) it reads 14volts. Ive booked it into holden. I know itll probably be expensive but they may actually know what the damn hell is going on with it because im stumped. Also when i was getting battery readings and starting the car where the km's is shown im getting error come up for a second or so. Possible computer problem?

So sorta update. The ute is currently at holden and got a phone call saying the battery was dead even though it showed 12 volts on my multimeter. They replaced it anyway but now tell me their scantools arent picking up any of the computers/modules. With that being said it seems that there is a fault in the wiring somewhere and will pretty much be a guessing game to where it is :(

Who cares about their scan tools, is it fixed and running? If yes, happy ending, go driving!!!

I've had certain tools not be able to connect to mine, although I would hope they'd be using a tech 2 at holden that should connect to everything. Let us know outcome.

Negative on it working thats what holden are trying to do but they are stumped as to why its doing this and having hard time figuring it out as they cant scan the computers to see what faults are coming up. I think monday they are getting a auto lecky to have a look at it. He also said the thermo fan fuse was blown as well which doesnt normally happen. Hopfully whatever wiring has failed is found quick .
