Hi guys

I recently bought a VU SS and the previous owner told me that occasionally the immobilizer will kick in if you unlock the doors and don't start the engine pretty quickly. Once or twice this would happen and I would just lock/unlock the doors and the red flashing light would go off and it would start first time.

It seems like the same (or a different) problem has gotten worse.

- unlock the car
- red light is off
- put key in and I can hear the fuel pump priming (radio etc all working)
- turn the key and nothing. no attempt at cranking at all.

Sometimes I can turn the key about 20 times and it will eventually fire, other times nothing?

I have replaced the battery with a new one which hasn't made any difference.
I have checked all the fuses which are also ok.

Could the key not be making good contact with the ring? The ball on the key does seem a bit flat?

Where should I start to try and diagnose the issue?

Thanks for your help!
