OK, I HAVE spent the previous couple of hours using that search Button, but none the wiser. I tried! Air Bag Light and Chime came on this afternoon when I started it. Car had been parked for 7 hours after a 2 hour drive with no hint of a problem or cause. When I got home, I did the paper clip trick to get my code (See Video below) in the hope to narrow the fault down to a broken clock spring, (Horn and remote controls for the radio all work.) or a dirty connection somewhere, or?? I was totally confused with the lights until I read a post from AccentStencil (Oct 1 2012) when he wrote that the VX has a 4 digit code. Hence I have come up with a code that reads 0405. (10 lights, 4 lights, 10 lights, 5 lights.) Does anyone agree? If not, what is the code? And if so, what does code mean, or where can i find it? I can find no codes in a 4 number format that make any sense. Thanks in advance. Video starts just after ignition turned on. Noise is an ill installed aerial. Same lights cycle. ""
Hi p0405 error code is egr valve pintle position. I haven't read this. https://repairpal.com/OBD-II-Code-P0405 I'll leave that up to you.
Thanks Lex for your reply and time. That's strange, for it states that: P0405 Symptoms Check Engine Light will illuminate (Check Engine Light has not illuminated. Air bag light has illuminated!) In many cases, there may be performance problems, such as pinging on acceleration, when the engine is under load or when driving the vehicle at higher speeds In some cases, there are no adverse conditions noticed by the driver There have been no adverse driving conditions detected. Guess it is now off to the mechanics.. I go.. Then again.. Search result.. Perhaps this is closer? I have no idea!! CODE: U0405 Trouble Code Fault Location Probable Cause U0405 Invalid data received - cruise control module http://u0405.enginefaultcode.com/ U0405 Engine Fault Code
Which pins did you bridge, if 5 and 12 then this will only give you PCM/ECU faults not SRS (airbag) faults, you will need a compatible scan tool for that. The most common cause for SRS faults is the clock spring although it could be any number of things. The fact that the horn and steering wheel controls work is no indication that the clock spring is not the problem.
Pins 5 and 6. OK, looks like I will see my local mechanic tomorrow.. Not as simple as I thought. Thanks all.
Yes I sort of put 2 and 2 together there. Thanks again for your time and assistance. Great Forum. Been stalking it for some time..
All sorted. Went and saw my mechanic at ARB Batemans Bay. "I'll scan your car if you pop over the road and pick up an order from Repco!!" Sweet. Came back and he mentioned something about "rear curtain airbag" and that the light had now gone off, and had not come back again. Inquired about the 0504 code, he checked that out and stated that not to worry about it at the moment as the light had not come on.. Even though it was pretty well a false alarm, I learnt a heap, and that's something I need.
I mentally questioned the same thing. He motioned towards the back.. It does have a side air bag, or perhaps he meant to refer to rear Seat Belts pretensioner. Will ask him next time I see him..
Neither did l! With comments like that l wonder if he even did anything? No rear seat pre tensioners.
Light is off, and it cost me nothin'! I'm not complaining. Been using these guys for 8 years and they have always done me right.
