02 VX Calais Series 2
Hey guys.
I have an 02 VX Calais that was running perfectly. Until tonight when I was about to head home from work. The car was idling and everything was fine but as soon as I got in to take off I had the charge light come on, when I hit the gas I had all sorts of other warning lights come on. Now I did notice that my lights would dim and then brighten when I hit the gas.

But then the dash just die like the car was turned off, the dash background lights were still on though. I lost my revs and my speed.

I'm not sure if I should replace the alternator again or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a faulty voltage regulator on the alternator. Measure the voltage at the battery with the engine running, it should be around 14.4 volts. I'm guessing yours is going read a lot higher. Driving it in that condition can cause serious damage.
