Hey all,
Just got my car the other day (VX Berlina 5.7L LS1) and it has approx 260rwkw according to the prev owner, and felt like it.

Short Version: I washed the engine, took the battery out. Put it back together, now is no where near as punchy as what it was. Feels like a hesitation on WOT.

Long Version:
Yesterday I washed the engine bay and engine, went to start it up and it ran like ****.
If you revved it past 2.5k the engine light would come on, one time it died down and just stalled after revving to 2.5k.

Left it overnight, came back to it this morning, my dad drove it and still ran like ****, the engine came on while driving and it had no response and almost died.

Couple of hours went past, we took out the battery and just kept cleaning around the motor, put it all back together and it ran not too bad, but still feels like its lost a bit of power. Originally it would hesitate a little on WOT, but now that has gone but still doesn't feel anywhere near as punchy when i got it.

The only way i can kind of describe it compared to before, is it feels "unresponsive", "All noise, no go", Could it be possible that taking out the battery reset the tune on the motor? :\

Any idea's fellas?

If the engine light has came on it should have logged a code, check for error codes to see if you have any, should give you an idea..

How do i check for error codes?

Also; Just took out the sparkplug lead at the rear of the motor, drivers side. Car seemed to run identical, thinking it might be that.

Maybe the spark plug is stuffed? There was plenty of spark coming off the lead.
Or maybe the injector went bad...? Anyway to test?

Didn't cover the coil pack...
took out the lead at the rear of the motor drivers side, started it up and sounded the same.

Then put that one back in, and took out the first one on the drivers side, sounded the same. So im confused..

Bridged connections 5 and 6 with a paper clip, didn't do anything. The engine light didn't flash.
