in january my car overheated coming up the toowoomba range. it was leaking heater tap. fixed that and fitted new themostat, than a couple days later a hole in the radiator. fitted new radiator, radiator cap and water pump to be safe. couple days later blew the top radiator hose. Now not even nine months later and i have blown the top 3 tubes and leaking water. i just finished fitting the 2nd new raditor took it for its first run and blow the ass out of the heater tap again. All air was blead out of the system each time i worked on it. Why would it keep blowing the cooling system apart?
yes i have the 135kpa cap. it runs and drives great. never misses a beat. good power. just keeps killing the cooling system. i have had no other problems with this car in the since we bought it 5yrs ago. we put a new raditior in it then and never had a problem. it has done 360,000KM.
system could be blocked up alot of gunk in the head cooling jackets..id give a couple of goes with a radiator flush and high pressure air behind ya ....u got high kms and had cooling troubles in the past..if that engine has never had a proper flush (not just by a garden hose) but by high pressure im sure your jackets will be blocked up causeing over pressure in ur system...this is if you dont have a blown head gasket..and you have a brand new radiator in it
ok compression test has been done on the engine cyl 1. 75psi cyl 2. 130psi cyl 3. 70psi cyl 4. 70psi cyl 5. 130psi cyl 6. 75psi why do i have low compression on 4 cylinders? Is my engine #@*ed?
Could be Valve's. Ring's. Head gasket. But all the sign's are not the best. Due to the history, It may be worth wile just getting a new second hand motor. You will need to weigh up you're option's. Part's + labour vs SH engine + Fitting. When i had issue's with my old motor, Simular to your's, I opted for Vy motor, Then rebuilt it. Very happy with my choice.
You can test to see what is causing low compression by blowing compressed air into the plug hole of the cylinder that is low. You need a fitting that screws into your spark plug hole that an air line can plug into. You turn your motor over until the cylinder you want to check is at top dead centre so the valves are closed and then you connect your air line. Then all you have to do is listen for where the air is escaping to. You can hear a leaking exhaust valve from the back of your exhaust. Leaking rings can be heard by removing your oil filler cap and holding your ear over the rocker cover. Take your radiator cap off and see if any bubbles are coming up to show a leaking head gasket too.
