Vx Dash cluster level 2 into a VT with Level 3. is this posible ?

Evening All
I was after a new working Dash cluster for my VT. I found a really nice one clean as.
The guy says its from a VX and that its the same as the VT one.
Now this guy seemed to know his stuff but on looking at the VX dash Cluster
I see that it has the gear selection lights on on it.
Now can anyone tell me before i start looking at changing this over
if it will fit and work... and have you attempted this at all ?
I know the VN and VP looked the same as the Vr Vs but would not fit at all.
Unless you pulled the separate gauges out and changed the housing..
Anyway anyone got any input for me.

if it's the exact same kind of car with the same equipment, it will work

if it's a VX SS auto with 4 airbags going into VT six manual with 2 bags you will need it reprogrammed

The Cluster was in a V6 Auto hmm dont know about the air bags. Maybe I could check that, I was worried
about the fact it has the gears section in the middle. will that work or will it not worka dn wont be a hassle
if the V6 Auto and airbags are the same ?

if the airbag lights come on, just take out the globe, and get used to the beep on start up.

but pretty much, make sure its the same motor. v6-v6 and v8-v8 and check what wheel sizes were as the speedo may be put out

Yes a VTII or VX cluster will work in a VT series 1, just not the gear lights. Also the number of airbags, engine type, and tyre size need to match the cluster (as mentioned by others above) - all this can be updated easily via Tech2.

The PRND321 lights in the middle came out on VT series 2 and VX Berlina/Calais (and WH Statesman/Caprice), but not on VT series 1 at all. I believe this was simply because the VT series 1 5L V8's auto transmission didn't have a 4-pin socket for these gear lights, and Holden wanted all VT series 1 models to have the same features etc. (N.B. all VT/VX V6 engines, and VT series 2-onwards 5.7L V8 engines do have this socket - so your VT V6 will have a plastic blanking plate over the socket).

If you are patient/determined & have the time, it isn't all that hard to get these gear lights working. See my post #3 in the thread below for further info - if you need any of the diagrams sent to you in full size just PM me your email address.
