The VX | Broken :( | LS1 228/234 cam & ported heads

My names Brent and this is my first car.
I bought it back in 2008 off a mate that wanted a car with better fuel economy [he bought a 2008 suzuki swift]. He bought it from the auctions as a repairable write off as it had fresh water damage.

As i was looking for a car it was a tough choice between a 1998 Ford XR6 manual with the tickford vct motor or The VX.

Needless to say i got my sanity back and bought the vx for $11,500 with 105,000 k's on it.

Since then it's gone through the paces from getting a cammed LS1 & 6speed

It also copped a full genuine vx hyper yellow ss dash, seats & cluster, Kings low suspension with monroe gt sport shocks and Genuine vx gts rims.

Although the vx presents very well, it flaws are a few hail stone dents from the last big storm, paint faded on the roof and stone chips on the bonnet so its due for a re-spray.

Future plans are to get some 3.89.1 or 4.11 diff gears and a re-spray.

Love the sound, that's the cam I've chosen.

Though that's a real low number for those mods and cam profile. You taken it to the track yet??

Good mods m8 and nice ride but i rekon you need a retune as you should be making 280+ rwkw with that
cam and those mods. Ive got pretty much the same mods except i havent got any head work on my vxss and it makes 265rwkw with a baby 217/ 217 cam and its an auto so with yours being manual it should put out even more. Take it back to ur tuner or get another tuner to see what they can do, im sure they could get another 20 -25 minimum rwkw out of it...

Thanks for the feed back on the cam, it sound and drives great. Drives like a near stock car down low and just pulls over 4000.

As for the whole 'retune because you havn't got a good dyno figure' it really depends what tuner you go to wether it be mpw, casey automotive, pro flow, chevs performance and the rest
Alot of dyno's are well 'happy' and this dyno is known for being very honest.
It's the same dyno that tunes Unfair [vn], lakerz [vt senator], gs1970 [x-something ford], rsted [vh] and many more so i know my cars in safe hands.
To me a good dyno figure means nothing, ill take a good time down the strip anyday of the week.

On another note, My best mates car ls1 383 stroker through th400 & 5000 stall made 289rwkw on the same dyno so its very honest.
