My younger bros Vx commodore is an ex police car and its always had the digital speedo instead of the overspeed chime. The Airbag module under the center console shat itself and we had it replaced but when they re calibrated/matched the new module to the BCM it has lost the digital speedo on the dash. The shop that did the job have tried a few different scan tools on it but cannot work out why it wont work anymore.

The BCM hasnt been changed and they said the option for police mode just isnt there to enable, and they tried a few different VT-VY in the shop and they found some they could and others they couldnt turn it on. Has anyone in the industry come across this before? We would like to have it if its possible, the shop we took it too are still looking into it as they are a bit baffled as to why they cant get it to work either.

Cheers

it has to enabled with a tech2

if you want to use it, you can hold the MODE and UP button while starting then release, push the MODE button till you see it.

it will reset every time you turn the car off

The shop said that there gonna get a genuine tech 2 and see if they can fix it with that but they also said that the scan tool they use does everything a tech 2 can as far as they know.
And yeah i know you can get it through the special mode but its just a pain in the arse having to do it everytime if we can get it back to how it was before.

vs commodore
With a tech 2, police mode is permanently enabled/disabled via the instrument cluster settings, not in the BCM settings.
