VX II speaker upgrades?

Hey guys, I just picked up a minty '01 series 2 VX S Pack and I find the stock speaker system lacks the clarity for my millennial music, they're quite muddy and lacking the ouss that I would like. I am unsure on what speakers to upgrade to, I've wired in a Sony headunit for more control which has helped a fair bit but I feel like I'm at the limit the stockies can provide.
Any help would be much appreciated

I pulled my door trim off yesterday, removed the front speaker and measured it. A nice 6 inch would most likely be better than stock. Depends on how much you want to spend.
