VX seats into VY conversion...

I got some leather front seats to replace the old fabric seats for my ute.

I tried to wire them up by simply cutting the main red and black wires off the seat plug and joing to the ones coming from the floor. But this gave the seat no power.

Anyone have any wiring diagrams or any information on how to wire them up?

Can post pics.

The new seat has back/forward electrics and memory.
The old seat has manual backwards and forwards movement but electric recline.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Why not just swap the seat rails?

I’m in the same boat but opposite problem. Converting electric to manual seats isn’t as easy as just replacing seat rails.

Good move, since swapping seat rails, where you need drilling, welding or anything on the rails or floor itself, will require enginnering approval.
I managed to get power to the motor to temporarily move it back and forth. You get the positive and negative wires from the floor and make an extension. Then make an extension from the motor that goes back and forth. Then just touch the wires together. Reverse the wires for opposite direction. Will type it in depth on PC later
