    Hey guys (and gals ofc) I was hoping I could get some advice on my VX. I just bought it, relatively cheap or at least what I thought was cheap, for a family member. They turned their nose up at it, due to it being too old and therefore not much of an upgrade from their current car. So now I am stuck with it. I don't need/want it, though at the very least I'd like to get my money back and break even. It's got about 200,000k's on it, is dark green with paint being near immaculate for it's age. It needs a front bar, 1 guard and a LHR door to clean it up, though it's more of an aesthetic thing. It's got a clean interior with elec. windows all in working order, car runs very well. Do you guys think it would be better (monetarily) to give it the tart up or chuck it on car sales as is and possibly let the prospective buyer do it up or would I get (for example) 2 grand more for 1 grand worth of parts. Also, what do you guys think it's worth before and after the fix?

    tl;dr what is a VX Lumina worth.

    Here's two links that might give you some clue to what it's worth.

    Redbook will give you a valuation guide as to what your car is worth, taking age, condition, depreciation etc. into account.
    Redbook

    Carpoint yields a few similar cars with similar mileage, giving you an idea of what the market for these models is. Just make sure you filter it by state to get a more accurate value.

    So for the car and kilometers, a rough price of $6k seems reasonable. Bear in mind that there's generally two ways to sell a car;
    1. lower the price to make a quick sale
    2. be prepared for someone to pay the asking price, usually takes ages (providing the pricing is reasonable)

    Cheers
