    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could clear something up for me. I just bought a late 2001 VX commodore executive and it has a series II badge on the back. I was told the series II came out in 2002 and was thinking that the seller may have just stuck the badge on there. It doesn't have cruise or power windows. Also how do I tell if my car has a passenger airbag?

    Cheers

The car's VIN will confirm if your car is a series 1 or 2.

I'm pretty certain that all series 2 VX had clear side indicators (front guard), whereas series 1 all had orange ones.

That's another way you could tell, but its not reliable since people can swap parts out, put badges on etc easily. Your VIN is a sure way of telling you which series that you have.

    Hi thanks,

She has clear side indicators. The model number says VX*****. Would a series 2 show VXII***** ?

Series 1 VT's had orange indicators, VT series 2 had clear, all VX's had clear indicators. So no thats not an indication, the build date should tell you the month and year of manufacture. Then compare to this: Holden VX Commodore / Calais (VX Series II: September 2001 - September 2002)

I think I read somewhere that series 1 VXs had the square end cruise control stalk and the series 2 had the round ones like the VYs.

    Too many to list......
Correct but these are easily swapped. As already said, check the build month.

ok i just went through this with my series 2 S..........i had searched for the VIN through redbook, the only one that i got a match with was an EXECUTIVE model..........holy god smoke i was $hittin myself! so to be completely SURE i had to take my car into a Holden dealership with rego papers and get them to look up the complete VIN....... it is in fact a 02 vx series 2 S model. BUT its plated an 01...(it was made 27/11/01) so ive gotta see what has to be done re: rego and insurance cos its all under an 01 model :-S

Wasn't the VX2 the first of the non-HSVs to get the extra toe-control link in the rear?
