Hey all. My 02 vx equipe is starting to smell like fuel. Still runs fine etc. only really smell it when the cars off. Not really sure what it could be ? Any advice would be grateful thanks
May be....leaking injectors, fuel hoses, regulator, fuel rail cross over pipe. See if you can see any signs of leaking petrol. Use a torch if necessary, NOT A LIGHTER!!!
Does it smell more when after uve just filled up? Any work done with the tank out? Thinking blocked charcol canister
I also have this problem, only really notice it when i first start the car. Always comes from the back as far as i can tell and it stinks. Been like this since i bought it almost a year ago now. Feel sorry for whoever walks behind my car
Grab yourself a new filler cap, we had the same smell and now we can only smell the dog farting in the rear.
As ephect said it could be blocked charcoal canister . Their is a thread for unblocking them somewhere on here.
When I owned a 2001 VX S a few years ago, it did the same thing. I had Holden look at it many times but the conclusion was that it was an older car trait and not to worry about it unless it becomes significantly worse. My fathers 2001 VX Acclaim does the same thing too without any problems (it's not hugely well maintained though). Monitor and see would be my recommendation.
It happened randomly last night, thought it may of been a car in front but it was mine. Then when I got home, turned it off it stank from the engine. Bout to take it for a drive for lunch, will see what happens :S
Had the same on mine for a while turned out to be a leaking fuel injector. The rubber O-rings perish after while.
