    Greetings All,

I have a VX Berlina, its a long story yet the I thought the battery was had it and replaced it only to find it was the alternator which was replaced. When the alternator was replaced the Speedo needle went from pointing at 0 to simply hitting the bottom of the dash. It now reads approximately 20ks less than the actual speed, if I set the speed alert to 60 it will sound when the needle hits 38.

I have checked the computer and all the leads appear to be connected. If I push the needle forward to the other side it will drop all the way to the bottom of the other side of the speedo.

Any ideas on what may have happened and how it could be fixed would be much appreciated!

pull the cluster out and apart and check the spring that pulls it back into position properly.... give that a shot

    same problem

    Hi

As jason said pull out te cluster, lift the neddle up (using spoon or fork) and repostion it.
Also make sure your neddles are not broken b/c the weight an length can also be an issue

    Works a treat.

I had this happen in a VT before I set the needle back on 0, went into diagnostics on the cluster and drove to confirm the speed. Was perfect ever after.

Thankyou for the advice, I will have a go at pulling the cluster out and see what I can find, if worse comes to worse it appears that whole instrument clusters are not too hard to find on eBay or down at the wreckers!

Much harder for a VX Berlina.
