Hi, I was hoping someone can help me out. I am looking at buying a 2002 VX SS with 6 speed. Did this model suffer the piston slap, oil problems I have read so much about?. Are there any other problems I should be aware of?. Thanks for your help.

I think the vx was a bit hit and miss with the piston slap. My understanding is that by the time the series 2 vx was out they pretty much had it fixed.

piston slap was still going with the VY ls1's mate. Have a look at the log books to see if there are any notes about oil usage and tell the owner that u want to hear to engine start when its cold. if you get there and the engine is hot then they MAY be trying to hide the piston slap.

if a car had piston slap it would have been repaired under warrenty. Make sure u start the car when COLD and listen for any noise.
