Check out the Pirelli Dragonsports.

I had to replace one of mine a few weeks ago.....$289 for 245/35/20.

I appreciate that...thanks:) The tyre guys must look at me and decide I look stingey and homeless (cheap) or stupid (expensive) lol

I grabbed my camera that I had left in my car today. The mechanic had taken a few shots on the build. I hope your not on dial up :p

The rims are 20x9 1/2 on the back and 8 1/2 on the front OM1's

I've been googling the 4l80e today and came across this post... Its basically a guy in a similar situation talking to Craigs about the 4l80e... and to grab his quote he says
' As for 4L80e iv been talking to craigs he said for the money you spend building a 4l80e and getting it too fit as there is a little more mucking around to get them into these later model commodores compared to the T400 there still no where near as reliable as the T400 under power. '

but then I watch this guys vid.

.he's probably one of the few people that say that a 4l60e isn't such a bad box if built properly...its a 2 hour vid from start to finish and I actually got through it pretty easily but at 30 minutes to 32 minutes he describes the biggest issue with the 4l60e. Basically the 3rd to 4th change almost drains the pan dry and something simple like a blocked/dirty filter can cook 3rd from lack of fluid.

But everyone is suggesting t400. They are also suggesting that I drop my diff ratio's back from my 3.9's to something more along the lines of 3.08 as the gearing in a t400 will make it really revvy..

I'm gonna get the 4l60e built the best I can afford atm and hope that I can get 12 months. I think I'll have to adjust my foot a little...but I will update this post further down the track with my 4l60e experience...hopefully its not another blown box next week lmao. If thats the case its bunky time :p

Also I want to get 6 piston brakes for the front and 4 pistons on the back and try to get this engineered before another trans...thats the hope anyway.

Yeah I knew the transmission was going to be an issue to keep an eye on though wasn't expecting things to break so quickly.
I didn't hear anything....was on the thottle and listening to the engine and wheels spin...not even full throttle, then I just drove it home normally not even noticing.
It wasn't until I jumped back in the car to fix up my account with the mechanic that I felt it. I thought it was the converter but he confirmed it was 3rd gear so fixed up my account and left the car there again. I think they have named their hoist after my car because it just stubbornly refuses to leave lol And they thought they were getting their hoist back ...
Anyway been googling 4l60's and it seems that they can reliably be built to run the numbers of my engine but as usual the better gear costs.
Also the problem with building a transmission for someone like me is if I was building an engine you know what brand crank, pistons rods etc and that can be researched (as a non mechanic). Transmissions are a little different. For me I'm totally at the mercy of the builder. I'll spend the rest of the time 'till monday googling up as much as I can and then speak to him for what he says he can deliver.
Spend sometime with this channel. You’ll learn a heap. They are keen to teach.

Maybe message @CWG. He just did a 6L80e conversion on his Cross8 rally car and might sell you the 4L80e from it?

Been doing a fair bit of research on the 4l80e. I was speaking to my mechanic who is happy to take it on though he hasn't done one before. Pretty big job. Done a ton of th400 conversions though so I'm considering doing a th400 with a Gearvendors overdrive.
This 500-600hp zone seems to be a really tricky power zone in terms of budgeting or going all out.

Regardless though...gonna drive it for the next 6 months pretty gently to re-fund or until it breaks.

Car is back next Wednesday from the 4l60e build so hopefully a few more vid updates to come.

Got my car back again today and it lasted more than an hour lol.
I had my transmission built when I had my car cammed so it came as a bit of a surprise today when I was shown the parts. It seems that I was told it was built when in reality It looks like the guy dropped the trans and just re-installed it...fresh oil or whatever. My new trans guy said he couldn't even tell if anything was done to it. The clutches were all Fucked, internals were all worn etc and looked completely stock. So hindsight to everyone... not surprised that it blew up straight away.
New guy has fully itemized the parts build and got it back to me 5 days quicker than I thought. Much more professional than before. Included this Transgo kit...seems like a pretty decent upgrade.
Gonna do a couple of short vids over the weekend though cant really give her any stick atm. I have a 200-300 km run in with the trans as it has carbon fibre clutches and band that need bedding in and also the 1000km's on the engine that the mechanic has asked for. It feels pretty stout atm though.
