i recently changed the brake pads on my VX SS. The front pads were not off a VX. After searching for hours I found they are off a VE. Anyway just today the right hand front calliper bracket snap when I hit the brakes hard. Firstly why would someone put smaller callipers on? Secondly is the bracket which joins the calliper to the hub genuine? Discs are 330mm. The calliper is damaged and I’ll need to replace it. Go back to VE brakes or? VX rotors are smaller I assume

Well you should of did search first, just go to wreakers and get replacing parts. VE wont even fit your wheel studs you will have to change the whole front if its possible, to get a upgrade kit your looking around 2500+ unless you can find second hand. You can go up to a VZ in stud pattern.

They make a kit, to fit VE brakes to other makes of cars.....Which appears to what has been done here....So it's rather obvious the wheel would fit from his car to the VE set up.

What he does is his choice....Personally, I'd find out the cause of the breakage and decdie whether to change back to Vt to VZ brakes, or fix the VE caliper set up

The VE pads are 114mm long while the VX pads are 180 (i think) so the VX have more surface area. Both twin piston. The bracket is cast alloy. If the VE callipers are better stopping then I’ll stick with them

the only brake upgrade i know using 330mm rotor and ve calipers was upc on ebay but they are now gone
race brakes sydney sell brackets to suit ve calipers to fit vb-vz 440 a pair to fit any brand or size rotor or you can go back to vt-vz calipers and rotors

Why not go back to the VX setup, cheap enough even as a fully rebuilt unit.
We have the dba slotted standard size rotors fitted with the dba pads for towing the camper and they have plenty of stopping power.

Some people do it because they can......Or just enjoy chopping and changing parts around....Been like that for years and will be for years to come
