I have a 2002 vx ss and the gearbox goes in and out of the last 2 gears when travelling around 80 to 100km,
Have changed the trans oil, still made no difference, Has anyone seen or heard of this before.
    suggestions would be much appreciated.

Its what they commonly call hunting. You will probably find its not changing from 3rd (top gear) to 4th gear(overdrive ) but more likely the clutch in the torque convertor locking and unlocking depending on throttle position.A hell of alot of cars do it,more so small automatics that quite dont have the torque to pull a slight incline whilst keeping the convertor locked, where as your VX would have no problem pulling a higher gear at low rpm.If you find this is mainly happening when climbing inclines or when travelling in traffic where you are more than likely to accelerate then back off and then get back on the throttle and so on,help it out by keeping it in top gear (3) and leave the (OD) for when your out on the open road or keep the power buttom pressed on, to stop the convertor locking up too early.Try that and see if the problem dissapears

Hi there, Thanks for your suggestion, it is changing from 3rd to overdrive but will not stay in the overdrive for long before changing down and reeving very high then will change up and down the whole time you are travelling around 100km.
