Hey guys ive got a vx ss and ive got a problem with the temp rising at idle its fine while im driving its only when im stopped it will reach aprox 3/4
Ive looked at the thermo fans and they appear to be comming in when the temp reaches 98deg as i checked by using the digital display on the cluster (holding the mode button and the up button and then turning the car on)
Tho even after they turn on the temp keeps going up
i can make the fans come on with the ac at idle and temp will still rise
seems strange as while driving the temp will comfortable sit at 1/4 its only when at idle it rises
any ideas guys as its got me stumped cheers

It's normal for the temp to rise when you are at idle because there is no airflow through the radiator. You say that the thermo fans come on when the temp reaches 98deg but it continues to rise. Do the fans ever get the temp down below half way or lower at idle? Have you checked to see if both fans are coming on or just one?

that's a sign the thermostat is failing it happened to me in different make of car, do it before you blow your radiator
