Do you have the traction control turned off?
whats the history behind the engine/car? was it looked after?
are there any noises from the engine..
    more info needed

your thread heading leads towards the traction control light, yet you dont mention it in the post?

you say it lacks power when it takes off? if its just that half a second wait then she roars into life, thats a normal ss, not the most responsive beast around. if it's got no balls at all through the lower rev range you should take it straight to a mechanic, unless your happy diagnosing and playing with you intake and tb and **** yourself.

as for starting and not starting abit, there's too many possibilities, fuel pump relay would be my first check, cheap and simple, if its not it, keep looking.

Get the car checked for past and present error codes.
Check the condition of the plugs, leads, air filter, fuel filter etc.
