I found an old ignition key without the key head when i pulled out my back seat . I put it in the ignition , turned it and the car started . Whats the go ? i thought that you needed the key head to contact the reader on the ignition switch the start it .
Try locking the car with the remote, then open it manually and see if it then starts with out the head. Something Tells me if its opened with the remote, its disabled before its started. then if its not started with in a few mins of being unlocked with the remote, it will immobilise again.
Yep I just checked, When you open it with the remote its disabled for 30 seconds, then after 30 seconds the light starts flashing again.
The factory immobilizer needs the key head to contact the ignition barrel to start. If it starts without it then you more than likely have an aftermarket system installed. By memory you can get the factory immobilizer switched off by holden so you don't need the key head.
it may of had a remote start fitted to it some time ago, and i think the way to get around that is to solder a keyhead into the ignition circuit or something, so you may have a keyhead somewhere in your car already
No its stock , Ive had it for 5 years and before that it was a reps car so i doubt they would have done anything to it .
Is it possible for the immobiliser to **** itself and allow a key to start it without having to be read by the slip key reader?
Yep , looks like edals is the winner . I locked the car then tried to start it and it wouldn't even turn over . unlocked it and it started .:idea3:
