Hi I have a vx v6 auto that I got rear ended in and a vr v6 auto with a blown engine, I'm wanting to put the vx engine and auto into the vr as it's too tidy to let it sit and rot and the vx has very low ks still runs perfectly can anyone help with any info on the best plan of attack and/or what obstacles I'm going to face?? I'm hoping I can use the vx wiring harness and eliminate the egr set-up ( as I've done when fitting a vy engine and a t5 into a vs acclaim). The vx is still complete so I'm hoping I can remove the vr engine and box slap in the vx engine and box using the vx wiring with a spare vs auto ecu and pcm I already have and make it work any input from my fellow members would be much appreciated.thanks

Yes, that's the best approach using the vs ecu, iirc you can keep the vr bcm.

From memory you'll need the dash cluster to match the ecu

The best approach would be to keep the VR PCM and get a tuned memcal. The VX auto is different too and will be problematic. If your VR trans is OK use that.

VS cluster will work in VR no problem, providing its not a level 3.

Vr trans is easiest to use but it's electronic so easy enough to run the. Vx box.

If running the vr harness

If it's a grey plug transmission you need to stake the pwm circuit in the transmission valve body. ( There's videos , legit hold it open , punch/stake the housing so that it holds the valve open and it can't shut. )

If it's a green plug you need to swap the vr solenoids into it as the ohms are different.

You'll also need to bash the exhaust to fit around the full circle bellhousing.

If it were me I'm unsure how lazy I'd be.

But it'd be inbetween using the vr harness with some extensions here and there and running it in batch fire also using the vr transmission.

Or using the vr transmission and vs ecu.

Id use everything ftom vr & just vx engine only...make it a mafless setup.
(basically ideal setup if L67 & wanting to mod it to the moon)

Would need memcal tune from pcmhacking peeps.

Fairly sure was archived thread or sticky of ecotec into vn somewhere on site
