- VN Calais V6 / VX S V6 Ecotec
Hi Guys,
I have a VX S pack V6 Ecotec with Auto transmission.
The car has always made a slight vibrating sound when in gear (D) and stationary (standing still). The vibration seems like its coming from behind the dash. I'm pretty sure its the transmission thats causing the vibration tho - as when I select Neutral (N), the vibration and noise stops. Then if I put it back in gear (D) the noise and vibration comes back.
Just recently (past week or so), the vibrating noise when stationary and in gear (D) has gotten worse.
And now when I take off from a stand still, there is slight a grinding sound which seems to be coming from the gearbox or lower back part of the engine (just behind the dash). As I accelerate more out of first gear the grinding disappears. But then when the auto changes into second gear, the grinding sound returns and then disappears again as I accelerate more out of second gear as the revs go up.
So the grinding only occurs at lower revs in first and second gear... possibly third gear too but not as much as compared to first or second.
The grinding sound and vibration seems to be much worse too when the car is cold, and improves as the car gets warm. However the sound is still there slightly when warm.
I have checked the transmission fluid and it is at the right level.
Could this be a clutch pack issue?
Or does it sound like the transmission needs a freshen up?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
