At this point, I'm suspecting fuel pressure. I am in the process of organising the tools/parts to do a fuel pressure test. Will post the outcome of this.

check for spark when cranking
check red mode light goes out when cranking
no check engine light, does not mean there is no electrical fault

I checked for spark today with an inline spark tester while cranking. No spark on any cylinder.
Battery and park brake light stay on when cranking. No other lights.
Bear in mind, I have new DFI, coils and leads. Last time when DFI/coils failed I was getting a check engine light.

I have changed fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, and checked pressure - pretty sure pressure looks good.
I've checked all the fuses, all look good.
I've checked earthing from battery, looks good.
I have removed ABS plug - no difference.
I swapped alternator, no difference.

At this point I'm suspecting something computer level?

Two things I'm noticing -
1) when on reds, a soft buzzing/ringing noise coming from around alternator? Same on previous alternator. (Could be normal?).
2) In the past, when I disconnected then reconnected battery, I would hear something engage down low in the back right of the engine bay (when facing it). I am not hearing that noise anymore.

alternator, i had a similar but not quite same problem a lil bit ago when i was driving along and my whole dash went "offline" no speed, no revs, no temp, but the battery and abs light was on. turns out the alternator was overpowering the battery, and just as expected, the alternator brushes were gone. not 100% sure if this is the issue, but the battery light leads me to believe it could be that
I swapped the alternator, and it had no effect. Car won't start.
I thought you could have been on to something, as I was hearing a low buzzing/ringing coming from around the alternator when on reds. But I heard the same on the new alternator.
I'm thinking the buzzing could have something to do with the plug that goes into the regulator, but surely the regulator itself on both alternators couldn't be gone.
Then, again, I can't see that it would prevent the car from starting - unless the computer can detect a fault like that and prevent the car from starting?!

Starter solenoid?
Have you checked the start relay?

if you bridge 5 and 6 on the obd port do you get a 0012 code
if you do then i would be looking at the crank angle sensor

I get two lots of 10 flashes, and then 1, and then 2 flashes - so yes, I'm reading that as 0012.
Elsewhere on these forums I read on a pdf that 12 meant "satisfactory operation"?
Also, the crank angle sensor was replaced not that long ago.
But I will go ahead and look at it, thank you.

If I'm getting faulty crank angle sensors often, do you think there is a deeper problem I should be considering ie. crankshaft alignment, main bearing, engine angle/engine mounts?
I'm fairly sure my engine mounts need replacing.
Or am I overthinking it?

have a good look at wiring to dfi module
did you use oem parts or ebay specials
do you still have the original parts
if you do ,
refit original dfi module
check the fuse under bonnet injectors/ignition 15A
