I am new to the HSV Series. Just bought a VY Clubby M6 1 week ago.
Problem I've noticed, is that when using ABS, the wheels lock up momentarily and then are released, just continues... all while receiving feedback through the brake pedal.
All wiring, sensor etc are all attached with no damage, no ABS light on dash either.
From my past experience with ABS, the wheels should not lock up at all..... is this normal for a VY V8 to do this?

The system did not lock up when i test drove the vehicle before i brought it. Is my Module Buggered?

My limited ABS experience suggests this is normal, ABS locks up momentarily and then releases, that's why you get a strong vibration as it repeatedly locks up and releases. Kinda like machine gun fire I guess...... It should not lock up for long at all though, very momentarily only.

Yep, normnal. The pulsating you can feel through the brake pedal is the ABS modulator regulating the line pressure to the wheels. Both fronts are regulated seperatly, and the rears regulated as a pair. The wheels will momentarily lock and unlock.

It should take a fair amount of effort to lock up the front wheels if you have decent tyres fitted.

VY has EBA, electronic brake assist. Aids that initial pad bit once a certain threshold of pedal application has been made more suddenly than usual

That may be, but it shouldn't activate the ABS. Really you should be trying fairly hard to get the ABS to kick in, certainly not day to day type driving. Either there is something wrong or driving style needs to be revised......

In a semi emergency brake situation my VY Calais chirps the fronts just a tad. Awesome braking response is all it equates to. If I keep my foot in it braking is normal with no abs pulsing at the pedal but if I go deeper then the abs starts to kick in

Shouldnt lock up, hence ABS is working.
Will grab and chirp then pulsate, thats normal.

What tyres you have on the fronts and rears as in brand? Get a crappy brand thats crap like a chinese Triangle brand and of course will break traction sooner then a better gripping tyre.

    Tyres make a massive difference.

235 width michelins can't chirp at all, and that's even after putting new DBA 4000 T3 rotors, QFM full faced pads, new braided brake hoses, and a brake fluid flush.

I had bedded in properly, then a week later thought I'll do a late brake to see how the brakes were on the way home from work, just jumped on the pedal as hard as possible and there was barely a scrub sound but it really pulled up very hard!

I suppose the tyres don't chirp being a softer compound, but I'm sure they did lock up for maybe half a second or less, then just the pulsating through the pedal.

Thanks very much for your replies. I thought it was normal. Maybe those cheap Chinese tyres need smoking.
    Will replace with dearer brand.
