VY Acclaim
Hi just wondering I bought an auto vy and pulled the shifter out to put an aftermarket one on to find the vy’s have a weird shaped shifter rod is there a way to replace the entire shifter rod and all so I can have my aftermarket one on it is it going to be more trouble than it’s worth

To get the rest out, you need to remove the shifter assembly. That will require the gear box to come out. Unless you can get to the four nuts above the gearbox.

On my vt, l've removed those 4 nuts by using a 1/4" extension bars & 13mm? socket.
I think the extension bar was the type that are called wobble bars. May even been 2 shorter extension bars with the socket?
I've done it numerous times, But was a few years ago.
Here's a example. https://www.amazon.com.au/Capri-Too...a1e70973fd49f526c376ed4049c&gad_source=1&th=1
