    G'day,

I'm hoping someone can off me some advice on my VY.

When i turn my aircon on it makes a loudish tapping/banging noise coming straight from the compressor it still pumps out cold air though and the pipes to the compressor look like they are vibrating.

I'm guessing the compressor is cactus.........so im thinking i need to replace it but im not paying joe bloggs $1300 to do so.

Is it hard to replace? I have a mate that can gas it for a slab........

    Any advice would be good!

    Cheers

That is a very valid point! I will check tomorrow but i think it is as the compressor itself doesnt appear to be moving just the two pipes.

Sounds like the comp. Check if it is bolted on properly and nothing is vibrating on the comp.
But you cant just unbolt the comp just like that. You have a thing called refrigerant and you cant let this go out to the atmosphere you need to reclaim the gas.

The compressor is bolted in properly so i am going to replace it, I'll get my mate to reclaim the gas and then regas when i'm done.

does anyone know what the go with the oil in the compressor is? and how much gas needs to go in?

    cheers

It's written on the sticker on the radiator shroud.
