Hi people need some advice and sorry if this has been covered before. We have a 2003 VY V6 Commodore and in the last few days it has cut out will driving, we get no warning it looses power to all instruments yet it will start straight away and continue. It is completely random and we get no warning lights. The battery is only 6 months old and i have checked and cleaned the connections, any help would be much appreciated.
Following with interest.. our 04 VY Berlina has just started doing exactly the same thing. had a auto sparky come and scan the computer today, there was no fault codes logged totally lost as to whats wrong
It just dies.. i havn't noticed any warning dash lights etc but last night when it died i noticed the interior light turned on like when you turn key off.. could the ignition be faulty?
Just a bit more detail to help us... the instrument cluster LED display is still working when it dies ? (as gohrdrgomad said - is it merely stalling, or is the entire dash display screen dead - ?) Also are low revs (taking off from the lights) or high revs (along the highway) a factor ? interior light turned on like when you turn key off.. during day or night?
I had that before. Checked everywhere and it traced back to positive wire where it bolts to the little main fuse had come loose. It's hidden under a plastic tab. Worth checking it's tight. It can be quite a few other things though.
Hi Demonracing, Our VY Berlina wagon (now effectionally known as the Red Devil) did the same this time last year. Our problem was car just shut down, no warning. Ran diagnostics, no codes. Ended up being wiring connection plug between fuel pump/sender unit and wiring loom back into car above tank working loose just enough to break contact. Hopefully this may help your issue.
Hey so after i posted up last year we were told to disconnect the battery for 10 mins. Surprisingly this worked for 7 weeks lol but problem is back again :/ so we are back playing guessing game
Car is just stalling, the dash display stays lit up and goes back to the service screen that flashes when you turn key on. Stalling occurs at low revs (most commonly backing out driveway, or if we manage to drive some distance then slowing down for a turn/traffic lights) As for the interior light, its like at night time when you turn key off your interior lights come on
