VY II Executive V6
I thought it would be good to see what kind of economy figures people have for towing with the VY. I'm picking up a Dec 2003 build VY wagon with 120,000kms on it tomorrow. :) I hope it works out! I just got rid of my 120series prado!

How about this format-:

Model-: series 1 or 2 sedan / wagon
Engine -: V6 or 8
Fuel-: Shell optimax, or Lpg etc
Kms on clock-:
Economy-: lts/100km

towing with a vy

Gday mate I dont know if this helps but a couple of weeks back I had to tow a tandem trailer with my 2003 vy sedan with a cage and it weighed about 700kg empty and I could only get about 400km out of a full tank most of the trip was highway and flat.

Well the trailer had an open top and I had four trees sticking out above the car (wagon) roof top buy four foot and they were wind swept, big time, so may be that had some thing to do with it??????

She is back to normal now on the open road at 9.1Ltr's per 100kmh with no trailer.

VY Series II Berlina V6 with 30,000 on the clock towing a 16 to 17 foot single axle fully laden 4 year old caravan.
Without the van on open road I have had as good as 8.8L/100Km.
With the van into a head wind from Campbelltown to Gundagai 22L/100Km-the worst I've ever had.
After that from Gundagai to Port Melbourne, all around Tasmania and return to Campbelltown (south of Sydney) I got around 14 to 18L/100km. That is with the van on and running the A/C (if required) when back in NSW/Vic.
I was pleasantly surprised as this is roughly what I get in daily use to and from work.
Regards...........

Hey there, thought I might light this thread back up again with some new towing figures.

VY SII Wagon V6 Auto with boxed K&N Pod Filter and full Headers ext's, hi flow cats and 2.5" system.

Not towing....
80kph = 8.0l per 100km
100kpm = 8.4l per 100km
110kph = 8.5l per 100km

Towing a 800kg dual axel trailer with no front wing (just a high box shaped trailer)
80kph = 14.6l per 100km
100kpm = 20l per 100km
110kph = 22.1l per 100km

Those figures were taken between Brisbane & Townsville direct trips and only stopping for fuel, which I did a lot of on the way back, oh and I'm running her on 98 as well.

Windsurfing.....
