VY engine into a VT

    I recently stuffed the harmonic balance in my manual Vt commodore, so i brought a new engine off my mate. My mates car was an Automatic VY commodore. i was just wondering what difference this would make to the cars performance.. would it make it more powerful or anything ? or would it just be exactly the same ? please help :)

    I don't really know, but wouldn't it be a lot easier to change the harmonic balancer for about $150?

    You'll have a whole extra 5 kw. I'm with accent, why not just replace the HB? It's cheap and easy enough with a puller.

    i was due for a new engine anyway. but being a good mate he sold it to me for $200 and it was well looked after, only has 163000km, he never flogged it. but he rode off his car and the engine didnt get touched.

    It's not 'exactly' the same, but it'll bolt straight in, no probs.
