vy fuel gauge problems

ok so i have had a quick google and couldnt really find anything

04 VY S
my digital fuel gauge decides to change it will jump from say 50 to empty to say 0 then 10 etc etc etc
this happens on level ground
randomly happens can go a week with it not happening the it will just play up

i rotate from 95/98 fuel tried different fuels tried disconnecting battery,additives etc any ideas?

Got Holden to download latest software in my VY ute I once owned,seemed to settle it down.Took them all of 2mins and didnt charge anything,the only thing was I got on good with the boys in the service dept,but surely they shouldnt charge that much,check em out ,but trying different fuel aint gonna help,cheers mate,could be the problem
