hi guys,

so the fuel gauge in my vy ss ute is constantly reading "very low fuel"

now it was previously reading 3 quarters full and it was stuck at 3 quarters full, and i ran out of fuel as i had just bought the car and thought it had 3 quarters of a tank still, but it was just reading wrong, so i put a new sender in it

and since iv put a new sender unit in, as i thought maybe that was the issue to the gauge not working properly, its now just reading completely empty regardless of if id done 200km or 1 km since filling the tank right up

any help would be much appreciated, thanks !!!

Sorry mate forgot to add that, it's a series 1 and IV already tried to calibrate it with a snap on tool, but IV heard you need a tech 2 tool

The series 1 has a very specific sender (reversed ohm), it's possible/likely you have the series 2 unit based on your issue. You will need the cluster reprogrammed but I don't believe a tech2 can do it, it's more specialised than that. Pcmhacking.net may have some info on it. The other option is source a series 1 sender

Yeah mate, only thing is, the sender I got apparently is the series 1 sender so I'm not sure what else I could do, I'll give pcmhacking a message I guess, cheers

I struggled myself with sellers who had no idea and tried to tell me the s2 would work fine or just sell me an s2 unit. In the end I just replaced the pump in the original sender
