vy series 2 25th anniversary
Hey guys
Recently bought a vy v6 berlina 2004 series 2 and I have just noticed at a certain rpm when revving you can hear apmost like a grinding/saw noise as soon as it hits 2500-3000Rpm
Sounds like its coming from under the car beaneath where the 2 front seats are. Really dont know what it is
Any help would be appreciated.

Grinding is an interesting word

But u may be describing the shields around the exhaust pipes

Get under with a flat head and bend the covers off the actual pipes a little as they might be touching a causing the grinding vibration sound

Youll see them they look like jackets around the pipe

True, more and than likely harmonic vibration.. At least com firm or deny as the only other thing is transmission.

I think the trick will be to find and hold the engine revolution once the noise happens with someone, as trying to distinguish with all the reving is hard. Also if the engine is not screaming, try increasing the revs to see if “it” moves out of the harmonic range.

Its the exhaust shield buzzing against the exhaust or its your cat

The noise is external and exhaust blow related

Not much else if its happening whilst cars in park
