Seeing as you just bought it I suggest that you have it fully serviced before doing anything else to it, especially if you don't know it's service history.
Replace....
# Engine, gearbox and diff oils
# Fuel, air and oil filters....Cabin filter too if it has one
# Brake fluid....Check the condition of brake pads and rotors while you're at it
# Clutch fluid....If it's a manual
# Coolant
# Clean the throttle body and MAF sensor
# Plugs and leads....Not absolutely necessary....will depend on service history
I do this whenever I buy a new vehicle regardless of it's service history
Some people say it's overkill, but I bought the car not them, plus I want to try and look after it as best as I can.
The main reason is to make sure that all those filters, oils and fluids are fresh and clean....plus I now know exactly when those items will be due to be replaced again
Only after I've done all that will I start to consider any future modifications

As for modifications......
There is literally hours and hours of reading available in these sections of the forum to see what other people have done to their cars

My way of thinking is to do it all as soon as possible when you first buy it
At the end of the day you want to be driving your new car, not fixing something that broke or blew up that you would have picked up on by doing a little preventative maintenance

Got any pics of it yet ?

2007 ssv manual
Normal starting point for these is an Otr air intake, long tube headers with high flow cats (or no cats for us in NZ lol) and a full twin 2.5 inch or 3 inch if your brave enough and a mafless dyno tune.... the above will liven up your Maloo nicely and if that’s not enough u can look at cam, supercharger or turbo etc etc as vs 5.0 said depends on how many zeros ur bank account has

Vy2 hsv’s already have good headers and cats so aftermarket parts make only a marginal difference if any at all.

Best bang for buck mods are:
-OTR intake
-2.5 catback exhaust
-Diff gears
-Dyno tune

After that things get expensive very quickly.

vt ss & lc gtr
vy hsv manual usually have 3.73 & short shift, the hsv headers are ok but nothing special.

Otr/tune/catback would be first on list.

All depends on budget & what is already on the car????

OTR, Exhaust, Diff gears.

Then when you get bored of that (which will be fast), throw a cam in it.
