Chevrolet Lumina Coupe S (Monaro CV6)
Hi. I'm running a left hand drive 2003 V2 Monaro CV6 auto (although here in the United Arab Emirates it's badged as a Chevrolet Lumina Coupe) and while it's a superb machine all round, it does have a couple of problems.

One of these is that the LCD screen on the instrument binnacle has bled and is very hard to read. I would like to change either the LCD or the complete binnacle to restore functionality but obviously need to ensure that I get the right unit. Scrapyards here are as useful as a chocolate teapot so I'm looking to by a used one from Australia and get it shipped here.

So, my question is....will the instrument cluster from a VY Commodore V6 auto fit or will there be issues with compatibility or would it need reprogramming? Would it be possible to canibalise a VY binnacle and fit the LCD into mine?

Any help or advice gratefully received. Thanks

The quickest and easiest fix would be to source another instrument cluster....What you call a binnacle we call a cluster
A replacement cluster can be used after it is reprogrammed to your vehicles specific setup....Auto/manual, V6/V8, Airbag configuration etc etc
Make sure the plug colour on the back of the replacement cluster matches the one in your vehicle as they are not interchangeable....
VY clusters have a grey coloured plug......…..VZ clusters have a blue coloured plug

Is your clusters speedo fascia in KM/H or MPH
If in KM/H
You could buy a replacement instrument cluster and have it reprogrammed before being sent to you from:

https://www.envyouscustoms.com/services/holden-vy-vz-programming-and-repairs/
If in MPH:
These clusters on Ebay are in MPH and can be programmed before being sent to you

Thanks. My dials are km/h, so that's what I would need (it's handy that Aus uses metric units).

After doing further reading after making my post, I've come to the conclusion that I may be best to buy a cluster on ebay, get it sent to someone like Envyous for reprogramming and then get it sent on to me.

I just had a quick look at Envyous Customs website and it states that they are out of stock of VY clusters

You might save a few dollars by buying a cluster off Ebay, but personally I would just buy directly from the place that can supply and reprogram the cluster for me....My way of thinking is this will avoid any possible delivery errors from the parcel being double handled.
These guys would be worth contacting....They've got a few different styles of cluster to choose from too
