Vy key ring light

My ignition ring light does not work so I swapped to another buld and still don't work.. I put a test light on the plug and get the light to work but when I put a working globe or a led in the bulb holder it does not work.. Find it strange to get it to work with a screw driver test light but not a known working light/led.. Any ideas guys and gals?

im unsure if they are negatively switched or not but it sounds it, if the roof light is turned off it will not light up

As above.....
And yes, the interior lights are negatively switched.

Did you just use a led?
If so, they are polarity sensitive and HAVE to be in the right way around.
