Guy I work with has a VY exec series 2 and I'm assuming he has blown the trans, it only has first and second but the strange part is the dash has lit up like a Christmas tree
    - trac off
    - abs (light on)
    - srs (light on)
    - contact dealer
    - temp gauge has stopped working
Just would like to know if a blown box would cause these lights and messages or could it be a dodgy computer?
Side note he's 50 plus, original owner and this car gets driven like grandma car yet the box has let go at 250,000.
    Thanks for any help guys.

sounds like it could be going into "limp home mode".... best just to take it to the dealer and find out what the computer has to say.

did the trans loose 3rd and 4th first and then the lights came on or was it all at the same time?

Lights first then the gear box.
And it just revs in third and fourth like I'd expect a blown box to do, I haven't had much experience with VY's.

I'd say the same as above, "limp home" mode.

It's so something is wrong and it's the least-damaging/safest way to get home..

Going to have to take it to a dealer.

Sounds like the ABS module has fried. Trans will only have 3rd as a default which as others said is limp home mode. Don't go to a holden dealer as your mate will need another mortgage to pay for it. Most work shops have ABS modules lying around to use for diagnosis.

Well took it to a mate who is a wrecker/mechanic he replaced the front of the ABS module (bolt on plastic part) saved us bleeding the brakes got rid of all the codes but the trans still slipped so dropped the trans out and put in a second hand one and all is good like a new car must have just been a coincidence that the trans and module went at the same time.
Thanks for all your help everyone.
