Hi, I would like to get a cluster with the extra lcd screens, ie level 2 or 3 or HSV, for my VY Crewman SS. I just want to know is there different colours available in the Berlina & Calais clusters or are they always grey? I really like the colour of my SS dash, red with SS V8 printed on it, and I think the grey might be a bit boring. I have seen Pontiac GTO dash on eBay but it seems too red. If someone could post some pics of the different dashes that are available I would appreciate it.
you can get calais clusters that are black and imo are the best looking one available, especially with some white led's or something in there just make sure the one you get is from a vy series 2, or else your fuel guage will read upside down
As far as I know, there is no red Level 3 clusters. The Berlina was a grey background, the Calais was black. Not 100% on Monaro's or HSV though. A white HSV dash would look pretty good I reckon.
Thanks guys, does anyone know if Holden can increase the km on a cluster? ie car has 80000km but new cluster has 60000km, can holden reprogram to 80000km. I have read that they can set any km if the cluster is less than 100km.
And another question, is there anywhere I could send a cluster with 300000km on it to have it legitimately set to what my car is. I see a few clusters on eBay saying they are remanufactured so I guess that means reset to zero. Thanks in advance.
Holden won't, but some instrument specialists can I believe. You will need to ring around to find someone who can do it, but they are out there.
if the speedo and tacho are set out to the same measurements, you could get the triple window cluster, then take it apart a bit as well as ur SS cluster and just swap over the coloured backing plates, as far i know they are the same layout. Someone may be able to correct me the sets out.
I would have to cut out the 2 holes for the lcd screens still. Also I don't think the water & fuel gauges are the same, but I might be wrong.
Correct. You can get an SS backing and carefully cut out the windows for the side displays (backing is just thin plastic sheet). The scaling on the 3-window (Berlina/Calais) and SS clusters are the same for all the dials. You'd be missing the 'water' and 'fuel' symbols, but that doesn't really matter. The 'C' and 'E' markings would be very close to the window. You can actually move the displays down a little if you disassemble the cluster and modify the plastic moulding that holds the displays in place (therefore allowing you to cut the window slightly smaller. Here's a photoshop: SS clusters are easy to come by and cost around $100, so it might be worth picking up a spare one to try the mod on.
