Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have personally installed a Calais or berlina level 3 cluster into a VY Series 2 before?

Im looking at one that is a VY calais Level 3 V6 Automatic Cluster.

Anyway, my question is, will this fit in with no problems at all? Airbags e.t.c. And is the plug the same?

    Thanks!

Sorry if this has been asked before

    Hi,

I have changed the cluster so far on a VS II, a VY II and lately a VE II.

The VY change was the easiest and least risky. Addition: The one hazard with this swap is that if you put a VY cluster into a VY II, or vice versa, the fuel gauge will work back to front and the DTE (distance to empty) will be useless. This can be fixed, but at a significant cost (one I know of about six or seven years ago paid over $400 to fix this problem). Make sure that you get the right Series cluster.

If the cluster is new (like mine was), it will need a Tech2 (or equivalent) to set it and the odometer reading to your car. If the cluster has over 100 km, then the Tech2 cannot set the odometer to your car's setting, though there are instrument experts that can.

With your car being an Executive, I believe that there will be a few warning lights illuminated until resolved with a Tech2, though you could give it a try and see.

In my case, I had the cluster installed and programmed by the local Holden dealer for $145. Because I had used the dealer for that purpose before, they were willing to give the VE cluster swap a go (most dealers will not).

Personally I think that this is one worthy change.

So it doesnt matter if its calais or whatnot, as long as it is the same series? i might send it down to phreddy to tinker with and change.

I recently changed the cluster on my vy exec series one to a vy Calais level 3 series 2 cluster it wasn't a big hassle fuel gauge was upside down but thate only cost me $50 to be rectified (mate has a scan tool). The srs airbag warning will flick up whenyou put the Calais cluster in as Calais run a 6 loop system and execs run a 4 loop this is easily fixed with a scan tool also.

When I did mine I asked my local holden dealer if they could do it they said they couldn't do it and they recommended a place locally that probably could.
