A have recently bought a 2003 VY series 2 executive and i am having problems with the buttons on the steering wheel. Volume up mutes and volume down actually turns the volume up. Any ideas on how this is fixed?

sounds like a couple of mixed up wires, if mute turns it down...
take the wheel out and unscrew the back, you should be able to see where the wires are coming to and going from. if your not up to it you might take it to a cheapy place, like autobarn or something, or you could bring it up at your next service?

No it has nothing to do with wiring. Mine does it as well occasionally. I believe it is a BCM issue. Pretty common fault.

mines USED to do that. I've had it fixed. THey use a voltage divider system, and theres a shorting somewhere, causing incorrect signals to be sent. When phreddy did my lights and stereo, he kindly just resoldered the connections on the remote.
Its not a hard thing to do yourself, i find it fairly easy if your careful(but im an electrician)

IN the >3 months since its been fixed, its only gone spazo 1 or 2 times

the problem is only happening some times about 80% of the time, the rest of the time it works fine. i pulled apart the steering wheel on the weekend and the circuit board all looked fine, solders were in good condition and there were no other problems with it.
