im not sure depends which deck i think but either way i think you need to spend at least $150 to get them working with the new H/U < im not 100% certain that is right thou if there not working maybe they are broken ? or a wiring problem

Pretty sure that unless the Aftermarket Head unit supports digital steering wheel controls, you'll need to get a CAT10 to make it compatible... think it only works with big name brands such as Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony etc.

Quite often the resistors in the controls short causing them to malfunction. The wire may have just fallen out of the connector (although unlikely), it's worth a look anyway. Here's how to remove your steering wheel to check if the wire's still connected.

    New controls for steering wheel

When you get an aftermarket headunit and wish to continue to use the steering wheel controls then I would recommend you get one of these units

I have one in my car, works great. Just contact the seller and tell him the brand/model, he'll send you the right patch cable and can point you in the direction of a harness, so you don't have to cut/solder any of the original wires. You can also get a fascia kit from him, and antenna adaptors which you'll need too.
