Hey guys, my brother has a VY Ute, and we're thinking of installing a second cigarette lighter in the tray (primary would be in the factory cabin position). My concerns are a) the strucural integrity of the tray being compromised, b) power sources (where would u get it from)

The reasoning behind this would be for eskies run off power and various other things like that

Good. If you look in the back up the front of the tray is an inspection panel - lift that fella up and you'll see there's three vent-hole things that you can put a cable through into the cab, you can then snake your way up to the battery rhrough the interior, or just piggy back off the socket in the center console - I'd be running a new feed to the battery if you were running a few things off it though.

the ute has removable panels on the sides of the tray which you could mount plugs to. as for power source best option would be straight to the battery through a relay off accessories or ignition so you cant drain your battery and you should run atleast 6mm twin cable if you want to run a fridge.

Correct. It's held on by 10,341 screws and glued down with black sticky stuff - it takes some effort to lift up.
