Okay so Ive had a vy ute for a while now and I just got a vu ute from a mate for free. Now would the manual gearbox from the vu work with the vy or not?
Also I have a problem when I'm im idling for a few minutes not moving the car dies down like it's gonna stall and then revs up to 3k and then back to normal. I've replaced spark plugs and wires and fuel filter and it's still happening. And also after I changed the plugs there's a tapping noise when I accelerate. The plugs were gapped correctly too. All plugs seated properly. What could be causing that?

I'm no expert, but your fuel line might be partially blocked. I've found that opening the fuel cap, and blowing some compressed air down the line from the rail backwards towards the tank might dislodge small particle build-up; hopefully it will get caught by the fuel filter. You might also have an unhappy fuel pump, but they're usually either on or off, not intermittent as you're describing.
