Hey everyone, so I blew my motor in my vx bout a month ago and brought a motor and box out of a Vy with the loom, I was wondering if anyone know if it's straight plug and play or if there's any differences between the 2 , cheers

Use the VX loom and electronics. The only thing you should need from the VY is the engine itself, hold onto the sensors from the blown motor too.

Okay so what I've done is I've removed the vy loom off the motor and pulled the box off it cause ik the Vy loom has a different plug on the tranny I was hoping to use the vy engine and box with its loom but they have different engine connectors (ye110-112) sadly and the only way around that would be by dash, ECU and bcm if I'm correct and thats to much hassle so I've got a Vx loom, Vy motor and a VT box cause original box had a solinoid fault like when it was cold I only had 2nd and 3rd and once it warmed up I had all my gears, was hoping to drop the motor and box in this weekend but I've just stuffed my endless chain holder, used and old steel swingset with a extra steal pipe thru the top ahah just gotta love commodores ahah

Sorry misinterpreted. Vy is the odd one out.

You need to use the vt/vx loom. You just change the switch on the trans. Very easy to do. Transmissions themselves are the same.

V6 Vt Calais
Question if anybody knows.. I’m currently putting a motor from a series II VY into my VT Calais... with the vt loom.
So far all I had to change was the trans plug.. everything fits except up the front around the oil pressure sensor... the loom has 3 sensors and the motor has 4..

could I chop a part of the old loom and rewire?

also does anyone know why so I can avoid it next time? I assumed ecotech to ecotec would be easy but is it because it’s a different series? (1997 vs 2003)

(pics for reference)
