Want to upgrade to the satin chrome trim?
Want to use piano black plastic trim
on the gear selctor? Well today I had to look up how to do something I’ve done before. Even found my post saying how it was easy.
Couldn’t recall how I did it last time.
Turns out the how to threads are either no longer available or the photos are gone.
The satin chrome on mine is lifting (Its not obvious yet but it’s there) and because everything is out now, I’m not planning on doing this again, after going to this detail.
I’m doing this one with the selector removed. (To do that there’s a bit more involved.)
It can be done with this in the car, as is.
Anyway. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the button. Two tabs down the left and right side. If it’s not fkd now, it will be. It’s hard to leaver out without wrecking the satin button. Piano black plastic will be far more flexible.
You can see how I munted the tab.
Once that is out, you’ll see one or two screws. Small 1 point Phillips head. One on this was hidden under grease. I’ll use bearing grease putting it all back together.
Then lever it forward. It might be quite stuck on there.
Then it lifts up and out.
“Installation is a reversal of the removal procedure.”
