Button broke clean off. Second set this has happened to.
Loctite Supe Glue the button back on.
Hot glue gun into and along the buttons where the seam is.
Has held up in the heat (thought the hot glue might run, but hasn’t.)
Buttons feel better than original. Firmmer.
Hot glue is nice and flexible.
Have seen someone used leather.
I had a spare old button set and tried it on that. Messed the hot glue up. Easy to remove it with a small flat blade screwdriver and redo.
I tried just the super glue and it held up really well on its own. No sign of breaking off again.
Then I deliberately snapped it off. It wasn’t easy so that’s good. Then I tried just the hot glue holding the button in place and that also worked.
I cleaned the surface first with Isopropyl alcohol so everything sticks as well as it can.
End solution was a combination of superglue and hot glue.
